Makeup Appliance Materials

Materials for creating silicone prosthetic makeup appliances. Adding SLACKER™ to Ecoflex™ and Dragon Skin™ super soft silicones creates a 'deadened' gel-like silicone perfect for realistic appliance movement. Ecoflex™ GEL is 'pre-deadened' and makes a superb appliance filler. Encapsulators, silicone gel, and colourants are used to create skin-like pieces. On-skin adhesive is used to apply the piece to the skin, making a super-realistic result.

Silicone For Makeup Appliances

Addition cure silicone in varying hardness levels ranging from the super-soft Ecoflex series to the slightly firmer Dragon Skin series. Combine with SLACKER to create a tacky silicone gel, or use the pre-softened Ecoflex GEL series to create a skin-like makeup appliance.

Silicone Modifiers

Smooth-On's SLACKER can be added to a platinum-cure silicone to change the feel of the silicone rubber to a softer and more “flesh-like” material. The tackiness created by adding SLACKER allows a silicone appliance to be encapsulated with dissolvable Q-Ballz. Silicone thinner reduces the viscosity of silicone without creating a tacky surface.

Encapsulators

The edges of a silicone prosthetic appliance encapsulated in Q-Ballz™ can be dissolved away with acetone. Q-Ballz™ can also be used to create bald caps on an appropriate head form. Cured material is skin safe and certified by an independent laboratory.

Derma-tac™ is a cosmetic grade and non-irritating pressure sensitive adhesive designed for temporarily adhering silicone and latex makeup prosthetic appliances to the skin. Derma-tac™ is skin safe and certified by an independent laboratory. This is a low odour formulation which is cosmetic grade and non-irritating. Derma-tac™ Remover will dissolve Derma-tac™ and aid in removing appliances from the skin. Skin Tite™ is a skin-safe silicone used to adhere skin effect appliances directly to the skin and to create fast wounds and scars.
