Mold Star^TM Grey

Mold Star Grey is a Shore A20 platinum silicone built for people who want a working mould today, not tomorrow. Mix equal parts A and B by volume, pour, and you can pull your casting in about 30 minutes. No scales. No vacuum chamber. No guesswork.

The 6 minute pot life gives you enough time to mix and pour carefully without standing around waiting, and the very low viscosity means the silicone finds its own way into undercuts and fine surface detail. For most work you can skip degassing entirely.

Cured Mold Star Grey is soft enough to release cleanly from complex shapes, tough enough to hold up through repeat casting of resin, plaster, wax and concrete, and stable enough that moulds keep their dimensions for years in storage. It is certified skin safe, so it suits lifecasting and body casting as well as bench work.

Where Grey stands apart from the rest of the Mold Star range: it can be thickened with THI-VEX for brush-on moulds. That makes it the one to reach for on large or vertical originals where a poured block mould is not practical. Add Silc Pig pigments if you want to colour it.

Good for: fast turnaround moulds, small and detailed originals, concrete and plaster casting, lifecasting, props and cosplay, first-time mould makers.

One thing to know: platinum silicones will not cure against sulfur. Avoid sulfur-based plasticines, latex gloves and some adhesives, and test a small amount first if you are unsure about your original.
